By now everyone probably has watched the trailer for Captain America Civil War already; I guess we all can’t wait to see the movie coming April next year. Aside from the excitement, does anyone know where Marvel movie studio got the idea for plot of Civil War came from? It is actually taken from pages of Marvel Comics 2006’s big cross over event Civil War series which was intended to be an event that would have earth shattering consequence changing the Marvel universe from its core and never be the same again just like what Infinite Crisis did back in 2004 for DC universe.
The basic plot of the story follows a framework where U.S. government passed a Superhero Registration Act which required all those with superpower in America must obey the act under government regulation. This law was reinforced by huge public support after the tragic incident caused by tragic incident with young superhero group New Warrior against villain called Nitro where New Warrior squandered a chance to capture Nitro safely by going after higher rating instead then caused Nitro to explode himself that caused 600 lives including 60 children within its radius.
Superhero communities within Marvel Universe then separated into two campus one leads by Capitan America who support non registration act and the other leaded by Iron Man who support the registration, then Spiderman stuck in the middle and X-Men taking a neutral position.
After a long hard battle between heroes it ended with Capitan America was about to deliver a deadly blow to Iron Man after penetrating through Iron Man’s mental which was compromised by Vision, but got persuaded by several non-superpower emergency personnel whom wish to avert further bloodshed. Capitan America accepted it and surrendered, later was killed outside the court.
This story touched upon dilemma faced by our world right now where security and freedom are hard to balance. Marvel’s superhero is having to face the same dilemma.
