90’s I felt was a decade of searching for new ways to improve old method of things, it is also the dawn of internet that only beginning to take shape, anyone remembered dial up modem that you used to use to go online? (Yes you are getting old if you have used it). It was so slow that you burst into joy when you finally seen a complete web page which reminds us that we take high speed internet for granted now. American comics in the 90's in my opinion was in a way searching for break through explored and trying new things in my opinion especially when DC Comics decided to killed Superman which grabbed headline around the world. Picture shown was my very first American comic collection 1993 Superboy issue #12, I was captivated by the cover and the way Superboy looked with the leather jacket and unconventional way of costume. It was the first time I got a chance to take a look and experience American comics in real for the first time while having to learned English language for only over a year. I thought this was amazing the drawing is so big with colors and the texture of the printed paper feels so North American to me compare to Japanese Manga where they were all in black and white in much smaller size paper. Even the way the story presented went different direction as American comics they try to have a mini story telling that has open and end whereas Japanese Manga they have more of a continuous story telling by having fragment of story each week with less pages.
